At Li-Fi, we’re solving the problems with EV fires. Our products significantly reduce risk for fire fighters and increase public safety. Our system utilizes an advanced high temperature blanket along with our proprietary aerosol mist technology. It quickly and effectively controls EV car fires.

The current guidelines for combatting EV fires rely on traditional methods including up to 10,000 gallons of water, foam, or dry chemical agents. These are all less effective and some not recommended by the manufacturer for use on EV fires. In some cases, extinguished fires have re-ignited in towing yards up to a week later, causing additional property damage, air quality issues, and response by the fire department. When asked by fire fighters for guidance, Tesla recommends “just letting it burn out, or use enough water to cool".” These solutions present a clear danger for air quality, water consumption, and hazardous waste water runoff.

Our innovative 2 step system addresses these limitations.  First, cover the fire with our reusable blanket, then deploy our aerosol agent.  This will immediately control the fire, saving time, and natural resources.  Our low cost and ease of integration into existing infrastructure make it a cost effective, easy, and scalable solution for the entire industry.

According to a report by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), EV fires grew at an alarming rate of 58% in the US between 2014 and 2022.  Most recent statistics show that 25 of every 100,000 EVs catch fire.

    Containment

    The first step in preventing EV fire is the use of approved batteries and chargers.  The Li-Fire E-bike blanket is designed for use while charging.  It can be placed over the vehicle while charging so in the event of a malfunction such as a short circuit, thermal runaway, or charging problem the Li-Fire blanket can contain the intensity of the fire from quickly spreading.  Adding critical time for a safe exit.

    Our fire blanket is made from high-quality, non-combustible materials that provide exceptional heat resistance. This means that the blanket can withstand the high temperatures typically associated with electric vehicle fires, preventing the flames from spreading or igniting nearby objects.

  • Fire Suppression

    When the fire blanket is placed over the affected area, it creates a barrier that effectively isolates the source of the fire, cutting off the supply of oxygen necessary for combustion. This quickly suppresses the flames by preventing the fire from spreading.
